About Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a mini procedure that involves the skin being “sandblasted” by aluminum oxide crystals to remove the top layer of the skin and dead skin cells and to promote production of new cells in the deepest layer. A cleansing toner is first applied to the skin to remove excess oils for better application and penetration. During the procedure, a self-contained wand is manually passed over the skin in areas of damage or all over the face. The procedure lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, depending upon the depth or strength of the treatment. No anesthesia is necessary, and it is usually pain-free. There is no recuperation time.

The treatment is safe and has a quick recovery period. It also fits most people’s budgets and lifestyles. It addresses fine lines and wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, blotchy, dull, or sun-damaged skin, acne and acne scars, and excess skin oil.

The treatment works by removing upper layers of skin and to bring healthier skin cells to the top. This process, which generates cellular turnover, improves the skin’s texture, tone, and elasticity.

Most areas can be treated, such as the face, neck, hands, and chest. Dr Taweh can provide you with more details.

Treatments are done as a series, about a week apart, for a total of five to ten treatments. The number of treatments depends on the severity of damage to the skin.

The process is gentle and most people are back to normal within a few hours of treatment. Any residual discoloration usually disappears within 24 hours. Your skin will look and feel softer, smoother, and more even.
